Time Will Tell

By Madhav Dutt

In the soft summer breeze
The tree branches shake
And boy do they shake-
So much so that even the underripe admit defeat

And so tells the tale of many ripe to be-
Of how they hang on to that
Weathered down tree
And will themselves not to give in

For falling victim to gravity
Incites a fruits fear,
Even driving them to insanity
Over the possibility of wear and tear

But only time can and will tell
What becomes of this tree
And of her ripest, ripe and riped
And of her spoiled and rotten roots

Because only time gives you the most
Of what one does not want to do
